Choose your table linen by material according to your lifestyle habits
The dining room and kitchen are often the rooms where a house fills up most with voices and the sound of cutlery. At Sylvie Thiriez, we believe that a well-dressed table changes how a meal is experienced, even on a simple Tuesday night. Our table linen by material collection is designed to fit a changing daily life: a breakfast swallowed in a hurry calls for a different fabric than a dinner stretching until midnight. The texture, drape, and grain of the tablecloth make a real difference to the room's overall appeal, much more than one imagines before trying it.
Choosing the right material means balancing what pleases the eye with what washes effortlessly. We aim to give you the means to build a decor that reflects you, without imposing demanding maintenance. Browse our various fabric options, selected one by one, to dress your table with character rather than a default solution.
Cotton remains the easiest material to live with every day
Cotton holds a special place in home linen, and the table is no exception. Its wear resistance and ease of washing make it a logical ally for families where the table is set three times a day. A cotton tablecloth comes in a wide palette of colors and patterns, enough to change the room's atmosphere depending on the season or simply the mood of the moment. From the most sober solid canvas to prints designed by our teams, cotton brings an unpretentious note of freshness. It is the material that forgives tomato sauce stains and repeated washes, week after week.
Linen and half-linen bring a more raw and textured rendering
For a more natural look with a grain you can feel under your fingers, linen and half-linen (a blend of linen and cotton) offer a different rendering from classic cotton. Washed linen, appreciated for its slightly crinkled appearance, easily skips ironing and provides a supple drape that instantly modernizes a dining room. Its thermoregulating qualities and natural robustness make it a fabric that gains character with each wash rather than wearing out. Half-linen, for its part, combines the raw look of linen with the softness of cotton, a compromise for anyone wanting natural appeal without losing flexibility.
Combine tablecloths, table runners, and napkins to compose your style
Setting a stylish table is not limited to choosing the tablecloth. At Sylvie Thiriez, we encourage playing with accessories and layering materials rather than matching everything identically. Our catalog allows you to build complete sets that make you want to linger at the table.
Layer materials to give depth to your table setting
Detail often makes all the difference in a successful table. A textured linen table runner placed on a smooth cotton tablecloth creates an effortless eye-catching contrast. The choice of napkins matters just as much: you can aim for perfect harmony with a matching set, or prefer a deliberate mismatch by pairing solid napkins with a patterned tablecloth. These plays on materials allow you to renew your table's look without repurchasing all the linen every season.
Choose shades reminiscent of landscapes rather than passing trends
The Sylvie Thiriez universe relies on shades that cross the years without going out of style, inspired by wide-open spaces rather than current fads. Slate gray, sage green, or warmer, spicy tones depending on preference: our color selection allows you to compose very different atmospheres from one table to another. These shades have been chosen to coordinate just as well with traditional dinnerware as with a more contemporary set.
Discover our production organization, between our workshop and selected partners
The quality of our table linen relies on demanding design and thoughtful selection of our collaborators. We prefer to clearly explain how our products are made rather than remaining vague.
Our workshop in France designs bed linen, while our partners manufacture table linen
Our solid bed linen models in 57-thread count cotton and cotton percale, as well as all our custom creations, are made directly in our own workshop located in France. For our other collections, including table linen and bath linen, we work with long-standing partners chosen for their expertise and finish consistency. This organization allows us to offer durable fabrics designed to withstand the rhythm of a household that hosts frequently.
Adapt your table linen's maintenance to each chosen material
Table linen absorbs everyday mishaps, and the choice of material largely determines the maintenance routines to adopt. Good quality cotton easily withstands frequent machine washing, while washed linen retains its charm when air-dried rather than tumble-dried. Betting on pieces designed to last also means limiting impulsive repurchases. Browse our ranges, compare the textures by touch, and choose the fabric that will accompany your meals, from the simplest to the most festive.
