Can you put a fitted sheet in the dryer?

Before putting your brand new fitted sheet in the dryer, we advise you to first check the care instructions on the product label. Then, take a few minutes to read our drying tips from our brand, an expert in home linen for nearly 40 years.
Program, temperature, drying time — we guide you on the drying method to favor depending on the composition of your fitted sheet.
Which dryer program to choose for a fitted sheet?

There is a wide range of fitted sheets on the market made from synthetic or natural fibers. The designers at Sylvie Thiriez have selected quality fabrics for you: 57-thread cotton, linen, cotton percale, or washed percale are guarantees of softness, breathability, and durability. The choice of dryer program depends on the material of your fitted sheet. For a cotton model, particularly resistant and easy to care for, you can opt for moderate heat drying (between 60 and 80°C). However, it is better to air-dry your fitted sheets made of linen, percale, or washed percale to avoid damaging the fabric fibers. You can hang them in your garden or on your balcony, taking care to avoid prolonged sun exposure that could fade the bed linen.
It is also possible to dry them indoors in a well-ventilated room. However, it is not recommended to hang your laundry in a humid area, like a bathroom, or close to a radiator.
If you still prefer to dry your fitted sheet in the dryer, it is possible provided you select a low-temperature program (maximum 45 to 60°C). Low heat helps prevent the fitted sheet from shrinking, minimizes wrinkles, and thus reduces ironing time.
Our advice: make sure not to overload the dryer. Ideally, place only your bedding set inside, taking care beforehand to button your duvet cover to prevent the fitted sheet and pillowcases from slipping inside and forming a tangled ball of laundry.
How long should a fitted sheet be dried in the dryer?
It takes at least 40 minutes to effectively dry a relatively lightweight cotton fitted sheet in the dryer. If it’s thick cotton, it will probably need a bit more time. Do you have a synthetic model? A 30-minute program should suffice. Linen, cotton percale, and washed percale are light materials that dry quickly. If the weather is favorable, a few hours outdoors usually suffice to dry them. Plan rather a day of drying if you hang your laundry indoors. In case of low-temperature drying in the dryer, your linen, percale, or washed percale fitted sheet should dry quickly. You can also start with a short drying time in the dryer, then hang the fitted sheet while still slightly damp so it finishes drying naturally in the air.
Once your cotton fitted sheet is out of the dryer, you can iron it at a medium to high temperature. We recommend a moderate temperature for linen or cotton percale bed linen, and a low heat for washed percale. Linen, percale, and washed percale naturally have a slightly wrinkled look; whether you choose to iron them or not depends on your aesthetic preferences. Finally, all that remains is to put your fitted sheet back on your mattress or fold and store it in a cool, dry place for future use. Wondering how often to care for your fitted sheet? It is recommended to renew bed linen care every week for cotton, percale, and washed percale products, and every two weeks for linen.
