How to wash a fitted sheet?

Are you unsure which wash cycle to select for your new fitted sheet?
Take advantage of the advice from Sylvie Thiriez, a specialist in the creation and distribution of home linens for nearly 40 years,
and discover the washing instructions specific to each fabric: cotton, linen, cotton percale or washed percale.
Which washing machine cycle should you choose for a fitted sheet?

Before washing your fitted sheet, we recommend checking the care instructions shown on the product label. They will indicate the appropriate washing temperature and help guide you in selecting the right wash cycle. You can also refer to the pre-programmed cycles on your washing machine, such as “cotton”, “synthetic” or “delicate”.
At Sylvie Thiriez, our fitted sheets are made from natural materials such as cotton, linen, percale and washed percale, and can be washed at 60°C. Whatever the fabric of your fitted sheet, avoid overloading the machine so that the laundry is washed properly; the same applies to the tumble dryer.
How to wash a cotton fitted sheet?
57-thread-count cotton is known for being easy to care for. You can machine-wash your cotton fitted sheet at 60°C and then tumble-dry it for at least 30 minutes at a moderate temperature. For ironing, we recommend selecting a high heat setting.
Cotton is particularly resistant to frequent washing and is perfectly suited to regular use, in both adult and children’s bedrooms.

How to wash a linen fitted sheet?

It is recommended to wash your linen bed linen every two weeks. This natural and lightweight fabric can be machine-washed at 60°C. It is preferable to air-dry your linen fitted sheet, taking care not to expose it to prolonged sunlight in order to avoid discoloration. Choose a mild detergent to prevent damaging the linen.
In case of stains, we recommend blotting them as soon as possible with cold water. As for ironing, opinions differ: some prefer to keep the natural creased look of a linen fitted sheet and store it as is, while others choose to iron it at a moderate temperature. If necessary, the iron temperature can be gradually increased.
How to wash a washed percale fitted sheet?
If you have chosen a high-end 71-thread-count washed percale fitted sheet, you can select a 60°C wash cycle. While air-drying is recommended, it can also be tumble-dried at a low temperature, which helps reduce creases. There is no need to iron washed percale bed linen, as it features a naturally elegant crinkled appearance thanks to the post-production washing process. However, it can still be ironed using low heat and gentle movements.
It is generally recommended to wash washed percale bed linen every week.

How to wash a percale fitted sheet?

80-thread-count cotton percale fitted sheets can be machine-washed at 60°C. We recommend letting them air-dry outdoors or in a well-ventilated room, or tumble-drying them at a low temperature. Finally, you can iron your percale fitted sheet at a moderate heat while it is still slightly damp. This is not always necessary, however, as percale naturally has a smooth appearance.
To help maintain its freshness and brightness, we recommend washing your cotton percale bed linen every week. And there you have it — you now know the basics of washing instructions to follow depending on the fabric of your fitted sheet!
Once your cotton, linen, percale or washed percale bed linen is clean, dry and ironed, you can fold it and store it neatly in a cool, dry place so it is ready for its next use.
